Here’s a 2 minutes and 51 seconds Parents Might Be Passing Dental Fear To Their Kids video. See full transcript below.

Kids are usually prone to dental phobia. This makes getting them to see the dentist a bit of a struggle for most parents. Dental fear and anxiety can be due to a number of factors, including, as recent research suggests, obtaining the phobia from their parents. You might not be entirely aware of this but parents can also contribute to the development of dental fear in their kids.

The research involved 183 kids whose levels of dental fear and anxiety were analysed together with that of their parents. The results show that the two are significantly correlated to each other. Furthermore, as the researchers explored deeper, it was found that the emotional reactions that their parents display during the dental visit play a huge role in the transmission of fear. The team suggested that parents must be able to show their kids that visiting the dentist is not something to be anxious about.
